Incumbents in two Nassau County villages are seeking reelection unopposed on March 18, with no challengers filing in either Mineola or Williston Park.

In Mineola, polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mineola Community Center. Williston Park residents can cast ballots from noon to 9 p.m. at Village Hall.

Mineola

Mayor Paul Pereira is running for his second term without opposition. A central focus of his next term will be deploying the New York Forward Grant, a $4.5 million state award the village received in 2024.

“I want to focus more on making Mineola, and our downtown especially, into more of a destination,” Pereira said. “We’ll also focus on our infrastructure, predominantly water and sewer, to make sure they are meeting the demands and expectations of our residents and our business community.”

Pereira recently announced plans to retire from a 33-year teaching career at Mineola High School after the current school year. He said that transition will not affect his duties as mayor.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team that we have. Including the board, our wonderful staff and department heads,” Pereira said. “We’re all focused on taking this village further in the direction that we’re going.”

Deputy Mayor Janine Sartori is also running for her second term unopposed. She pointed to fiscal responsibility as a core principle of her tenure and said the village’s investment strategy is already producing results.

“The initiatives we’ve implemented are resulting in a bustling downtown with a strong sense of community. I look forward to continuing our work over my next term,” Sartori said. “Great things are happening in Mineola, and we’ve only just begun.”

Sartori, Pereira, and Trustee Jeffrey Clark are all running on the New Line Party ticket. Sartori described the party as focused on reinvigorating the business district. Clark is also running without a challenger.

Village Justice Scott Fairgrieve rounds out the slate of unopposed Mineola incumbents.

“I will continue to be fair and impartial to all who appear in court,” Fairgrieve said. “Everyone will continue to have the right to fully present his/her side of the case so that a proper determination may be made.”

Williston Park

Mayor Paul Ehrbar is seeking his fifth term and faces no opposition. Ehrbar was first elected in 2010 and has a long history with the village. He previously served in an unofficial role as first gentleman when his wife, Doreen, held the mayoralty in the early 2000s.

What to Know Before You Vote

Both elections are scheduled for Wednesday, March 18. Mineola voters head to the Mineola Community Center, located at 155 Washington Ave. Williston Park voters go to Village Hall at 494 Willis Ave. Mineola polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. Williston Park polls open at noon and close at 9 p.m.

Because all seats in both villages are uncontested, each incumbent is expected to retain office following the vote. Uncontested village elections still require official tabulation under New York State election law.
