Roslyn Landmark Society Appoints Fashion Industry Executive to Board of Trustees
The Roslyn Landmark Society has appointed Tina Mai Fu as its newest board of trustees member, bringing fashion industry expertise and community organizing experience to the historic preservation organization.
Fu, who has lived in Roslyn for five years, will appear on the ballot for election by the membership at the society’s annual meeting this fall, according to the organization.
The new trustee brings more than 16 years of professional experience in the fashion industry, where she oversaw large-scale development and production for high-end brands and retail programs, according to the society. She also operates her own e-commerce jewelry business, providing expertise in project management, marketing, creative strategy, and collaboration.
“I bring experience in creativity, project management, marketing, and collaboration,” Fu said. “I enjoy working with others to execute ideas in a thoughtful and organized way, and I’m excited to help preserve and celebrate Roslyn’s history.”
Fu has been active in local civic life for the past three years, organizing community events through the Roslyn Estates Civic Association. Her organizing efforts have included a 5K race, summer carnival, Halloween festivities, and adult social events, according to the society.
The appointment comes as the Roslyn Landmark Society has experienced significant growth in recent years. Jordan Fensterman, co-vice president of the organization, said the board now fills 14 of its 15 trustee slots, up from just five or six trustees a few years ago.
“She will be a valuable contributor, infusing creativity and energy that will benefit the society,” Fensterman said of Fu’s appointment.
Fu said she discovered the Roslyn Landmark Society through neighbors and local events. Her connection to the community motivated her interest in joining the preservation organization.
“Being rooted in the community has made Roslyn feel especially meaningful to us,” Fu said. “The more I learned about the society’s mission to preserve Roslyn’s historic character, the more I felt it was a natural and meaningful way to give back.”
The society says Fu’s skills in project management, marketing, creative strategy, and collaboration will support its preservation initiatives and community outreach efforts.
The Roslyn Landmark Society dedicates itself to preserving and promoting the historic resources of the Roslyn area, including stewardship of the Roslyn Grist Mill and other notable sites, according to the organization. Through restoration projects, educational programs, and community engagement, the society works to ensure that Roslyn’s historic legacy remains vibrant and accessible.
The organization continues to seek community members who are passionate about local history to consider joining its board of trustees. Those interested can reach out through the Roslyn Landmark Society’s website at roslynlandmarks.org or contact the organization at 516-625-4363 and [email protected].
Fu’s appointment reflects the society’s efforts to expand its leadership and bring diverse professional backgrounds to its preservation mission. Her experience in both business operations and community organizing positions her to contribute to the society’s dual focus on historic preservation and public engagement.
The annual meeting this fall will provide society members the opportunity to formally elect Fu to the board, completing her transition from appointee to full trustee status.
